13th April – 20th May 2021 – WeTogether Project successfully wrapped up

Over the past few months, PhD students Katherine, Hannah, and Jess, supervised by Dr. Cecilia Chan, have initiated a volunteer-based virtual mentoring project called “WeTogether”. Over 50 university students joined as mentors to provide academic and emotional support to more than 80 local primary school students. In this project, mentors strengthened their own holistic competencies – in particular, social responsibility and understanding, communication, and problem-solving skills, and deepened their understanding of e-learning from a teacher/mentor’s perspective. The WeTogether project exemplified a successful and “new normal” mode of teaching and learning through online mentorship, and received an Award of Merit at the HERDSA HK – Symposium on Redesigning Student Learning Experience in Higher Education (RSLEIHE) 2021.
